Commercial Office Furniture FAQ
About Miramar Office Furniture
What size projects are the best fit for Miramar Office Furniture?
Commercial office projects of every size โ from a single private office suite, conference room, or reception area to a full floor of workstations. We also handle office moves, expansions, reconfigurations, and refreshes for businesses in San Diego and Southern California.
Do you work from a floor plan?
Yes. Floor-plan-based planning is the core of our process. Send us your floor plan (CAD, PDF, or even a sketch with dimensions) along with workstation count, room types, and target install date, and we will specify the right manufacturers, finishes, and lead times for the project.
Can you handle full workstation projects?
Yes, this is our core scope. We specify Friant, AMQ, Maverick, N9NE, SitOnIt, 9to5, HON, Lesro, Eurotech, and Boss for commercial-grade workstations, seating, casegoods, conference tables, and reception. We coordinate delivery and professional installation as part of the project.
Do you deliver and install in San Diego and Southern California?
Yes. We coordinate delivery, receiving, and professional installation throughout San Diego and Southern California, including Chula Vista, Oceanside, Escondido, Carlsbad, El Cajon, Vista, San Marcos, La Mesa, La Jolla, Santee, Poway, National City, and Encinitas.
Can you help with office moves, expansions, or reconfigurations?
Yes. We support office moves, expansions, new locations, reconfigurations of existing systems furniture, and full refreshes. We plan around your timeline, building protection requirements, and on-site logistics so your team can move in and get back to work with minimal disruption.
What information should I send before requesting a quote?
The most useful information is: a floor plan or set of space dimensions, your workstation count, the rooms involved (private offices, conference rooms, reception, etc.), a target install date, any existing brands or finishes you want to match, and a rough budget if you have one. Photos of the space help too.
Do you sell individual chairs online?
Yes, our Eurotech ergonomic seating line is available for individual purchase through our online shop, including the Ergohuman GEN2, 4X4, Apollo, Adapt, Europa, and Kinetic chairs. These ship nationwide direct from the manufacturer.
What is handled through the online shop vs. a project quote?
Single chairs and small ship-direct seating orders work well through the online shop. For multiple chairs, full workstation projects, conference rooms, reception areas, or anything that needs coordinated delivery and on-site installation, a project quote is the better path. Use the project intake form on the homepage.
Office furniture basics
What is the difference between veneer and laminate?
Most quality modern office furniture is built on wood or wood-composite construction covered by a higher-grade surface. Veneer is a thin sheet of real wood (usually less than 3/16 inch) produced by rotating a log against a long lathe blade, prized for character and grain. Laminate is a paper and plastic composite printed with a wood-grain effect, impregnated with melamine at high temperature and pressure to form a highly durable finish.
What is the proper height of a workstation or desk where a keyboard will be used?
29 inches is the standard. Height-adjustable workstations let users tune to personal preference for both seated and standing postures.
What is the difference between letter and legal, and vertical and lateral file cabinets?
Letter (8.5 by 11 inch) and legal (8.5 by 14 inch) are the two paper sizes file cabinets are built to accommodate. Vertical files are narrower in front, deeper in depth, typically 2 to 5 drawers, and store folders front-to-back. Lateral files are wider in front, shorter in depth, typically 30 to 48 inches wide, 2 to 5 drawers, and usually store folders side-to-side. A lateral file holds about one-third more documents than a vertical file of the same drawer count.
What does the UL fire rating mean on a filing cabinet or safe?
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent organization that tests products for safety. UL fire ratings measure how long an insulated safe or file cabinet protects contents in a fire. A common rating is UL Class 350 One Hour, meaning the cabinet can protect paper documents from temperatures up to 1700 degrees F for one hour.
What are the most common types of office desks?
Standard types include pedestal desks (rectangular or bow-front tops on one or two small drawer cabinets), computer desks (with keyboard tray and monitor space), reception desks (often with a transaction counter), L-shape desks (a shell plus a return on the left or right), and U-shape desks (a central desk with two side returns, requiring more floor space). For commercial projects we specify the desk style that fits the room layout, the role, and the manufacturer system.
